It seems that when two people discuss food the inevitable topic of fat rears its ugly head. It has invaded every aspect of eating for adults and even children.
Most of us are careful and tend to pay attention to fat content. That is - everyone except the people that consume 10 billion donuts a year (that is according to the Donut Book: The Whole Story in Words,Pictures and Outrageous Tales).
Well, let's be honest. We all need a treat sometime (some of us need them all of the time). Sometimes having a treat once a week is enough, for some it has to be once a day. WE ALL NEED TREATS.
I am going to share a recipe with you for a great treat. It has very little fat content (only egg yolks), it looks good and it tastes YUMMMM. This recipe has been in our family for years. Both young and old love it. In fact, some find it addictive.
Lebkuchen
6 eggs
2 cups of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon
3 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350.
Spray or line a cookie sheet with parchment.
Beat eggs until frothy. Add brown sugar slowly. Add the cinnamon and slowly add the flour. Spread the batter in the pan and put in the oven. Test the cake with a toothpick to make sure it is done.
Mix 1 cup of frosting sugar with 1/8 cup water and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
Mix well to form a thick glaze. You might need more water, or more frosting sugar. Spread on the cake - 1/4 at a time and pour on sprinkles.
Now cut and enjoy.
this one was always one of my faves. and so easy to make
